Just got a comment from a reader that I won't post verbatim. It's just too painful to read. But basically, she said the biggest problem was Pastors she's known who turned out to be phonies, or worse. One told this poor woman to tithe the meager child support she was receiving from her former husband. Makes me sick to think about it. Many of our visitors and members have come from bad church experiences and bring it with them into your church. Indeed, I still carry around the hurt from a situation that happened to me in 2006-07. Makes you wary. < Neil

I also want thank you for the article. It's a sad truth we've let it go this far. I'll be mailing this to my fellow pastors....it resonates with all of us.

Thanks Anthony. Readership is good. I guess folks just don't want to comment. Since I wrote this article, a friend lost her CE job in a church due to a long standing dysfunctional situation regarding the pastor. He himself eventually left, but not after blowing up the membership and losing good staff people like my friend. Sad.

Outstanding article.
I can't believe that no one has responded to it in almost 2 years. The statistics regarding failing churches are staggering, yet articles like this are virtually ignored. Ignoring the problem is not the answer; Its not just going to go away. I take my hat off to the writer.
